Your teeth can have that second chance

Dental implantshave grown in popularity over the last few years. For many people, they offer an affordable and convenient solution to the problem of missing teeth and offer a good alternative to Dentures and Bridges. They're permanent, easy to fix and are colour-matched to blend in with the natural colour of your teeth.

Implants from Brixham Dental Practice provide a wide range of benefits which can result in increased self-confidence - giving you the reassurance you need to be able to laugh and eat knowing that your teeth are securely in place.

  • Your healthy adjacent teeth do not have to be altered in any way
  • Placing the implants into the jaw bone stimulates the surrounding bone tissue, ensuring an attractive, aesthetic pleasing result
  • Dental implants eliminate the discomfort of loose fitting dentures
  • After having the implants fitted, it's absolutely essential to maintain good mouth hygiene and visit your dentist regularly.
Dental implant before & after 1

This lady had very broken down teeth in the upper jaw that could not be saved and she didn't want to wear dentures.

We placed four implants in the upper jaw and a fixed implant retained bridge to replace all her upper teeth.

Dental implant before & after 2

This lady still had her baby tooth but the root had resorption. The tooth next door also had problems with the root. The patient didn't want a denture and didn't want a gap.

We had to extract the two teeth and placed a single implant with a two unit bridge to replace both teeth. No need for a denture and pt very happy with the appearance.

Dental implant before & after 3

This patient had failing crowns that didn't match the rest of the teeth.

We placed two implants to restore the missing gaps and replaced the central left crown to match in with the patients smile. She is delighted at the results and is now looking to have implants placed on the lower.

What is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that acts as an artificial tooth root, and provides a stable foundation for the final crown placement.

Also an implant preserves healthy adjacent teeth by eliminating the need to grind them down to support a bridge. Dental implants look, feel and function just like natural teeth and enable you to eat, speak and smile with confidence.

Taking the first step

1. A Thorough examination

The first step of dental implant therapy is a discussion with your dentist, followed by a thorough dental examination. The jaw is x-rayed to check the condition of the bone tissue and to determine the placement of the dental implant. An impression is made of the jaw and existing teeth, forming an important platform for the treatment planning.
