Meet our hygienists, Clare and Julia

Our hygienists are an important part of our dental team and play a vital role in helping you maintain healthy teeth and gums.

Before booking a hygienist appointment

Hygiene appointments are available to patients who are registered with Brixham Dental Practice.

If you are a new patient, you will need to have a new patient examination with one of our dentists before you can book an appointment with the hygienist.

This allows your dentist to assess your overall oral health and make sure your hygiene care is appropriate for you.

How our hygienists can help

Our hygienists can help you maintain a healthy mouth by:

  • Removing plaque and tartar that has built up on your teeth, including deposits below the gum line.
  • Assessing your gum health, including recording plaque levels and measuring pocket depths where appropriate.
  • Providing personalised advice on brushing, interdental cleaning and your daily oral hygiene routine.
  • Helping prevent gum disease by keeping your teeth and gums clean and healthy.
  • Monitoring your oral hygiene and advising you on how often you should have hygiene appointments.
  • Helping you maintain the results of your dental treatment and keep your mouth healthy between dental examinations.

How often should I see the hygienist?

Everyone is different. Your hygienist will recommend how often you should attend based on your individual needs. Some patients may benefit from appointments every six months, while others may need to visit more frequently.

Please note: A dental examination is required even if you have recently seen a dentist elsewhere or have had a dental examination at another practice. The examination fee is £95, and the new patient hygiene appointment is £120.
